Frank Lampard is likely to play a role for Manchester City against Chelsea, the club for whom he made appearances.
City-pair Stevan Jovetic and Fernando remain sidelined, but Pablo Zabaleta is available after serving a European ban on mid-week.
Spain international Diego Costa will start for Chelsea, despite a hamstring problem limiting the play more than one-game per week.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says he is taking a risk playing the attacker.
Costa, 25, has scored seven goals in four Premier League games, but started on the bench in the
"Diego is not in the best condition, but he starts the game," said Mourinho.
